Fried Okra Fritters
These crispy fried okra fritters are a Southern delight, perfect as an appetizer or side dish.

Main Ingredients
- 2 cups okra, sliced
- 1 cup cornmeal
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup vegetable oil, for frying
In a mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg. Pour into dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Fold in the sliced okra.
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
