Ingredients

  • 500 g sardines cleaned and gutted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 cup olive oil for frying
  • 1 lemon lemon wedges for serving

Instructions 

  1. 1. Rinse the sardines under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. 2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and black pepper.
  3. 3. Dredge the sardines in the flour mixture, making sure they are well-coated.
  4. 4. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  5. 5. Fry the sardines in batches for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden and crispy.
  6. 6. Remove the sardines from the pan and drain on paper towels.
  7. 7. Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
